Radiant element will not heat

A surface element on a WCE radiant cooktop stays cold or will not reach temperature. A failed radiant element, an infinite switch, or a burned element receptacle; the element resistance and the switch are tested directly, and the element is replaced with a genuine OEM part where it has failed open.

Element stays on or will not turn off

A radiant element heats on high and will not respond to the control, or stays on after it is switched off — a burn hazard. A stuck infinite switch or a welded element relay; the cooktop is taken out of use and the switch and relay are tested before any element work, because a stuck-closed relay must be corrected for safety.

Touch controls unresponsive or phantom touches

The tap-touch panel ignores input, beeps continuously, or changes a heat level on its own. Spilled liquid, grease, or an object resting on the glass is the usual cause; the surface is cleaned and dried and each zone retested before the capacitive touch board is suspected.

Control Lock appears stuck (LOC / L)

All buttons appear dead and a padlock or LOC / L indicator shows. The Control Lock is a feature, not a fault — it is activated intentionally or by an auto-lock, and is cleared by holding the lock button about three to five seconds. The technician confirms the lock state first so no part is replaced needlessly.

Gas burner will not ignite or keeps clicking

A WCG sealed burner clicks but will not light, or keeps clicking after it lights. Moisture or food under the cap that needs to dry, a clogged burner port, a cracked spark electrode, or the spark module; the cap is centered and the electrode inspected, and gas burners are diagnosed entirely by symptom since they carry no code.

Gas burner weak flame or uneven heat

A sealed burner lights but the flame is low, yellow, or uneven across the ring. A clogged burner port, a misaligned cap, or a regulator or orifice issue; the burner port is cleared and the cap seated, and the SpeedHeat and AccuSimmer outputs are verified against spec.

Induction zone will not heat or shows pan alert

A WCI induction zone will not heat and may flash a pan alert. Most often the cookware is non-magnetic, too small, or off-center — tested with a magnet and re-centered first — and only then is the induction coil or pan-detection sensor checked, since the same cookware working on another zone points to a coil fault.

Cooktop powers off, weak heat, or breaker trips

The cooktop shuts off and will not restart, elements heat weakly, or the breaker trips at power-on. A tripped half of the 240V double-pole breaker, a loose terminal at the junction box, or a power-supply fault; the breaker and the junction-box wiring are checked, because an induction or radiant cooktop starved of one 240V leg behaves exactly like a failed control.
