Whirlpool home appliances signal faults differently by type. Washers show F#E# codes — F8 E1 (long fill / low water), F9 E1 (long drain). Dishwashers report F#E# codes (F6 E1 water inlet, F9 E1 diverter / drain). Ranges and wall ovens show F#E# codes — F9 E0 (door lock / control), F3 E0 (oven sensor). Dryers add codes like F4 E3 (thermistor). Refrigerators show only PO (power-outage) and the door-ajar alarm; cooktops, freezers, range hoods, ice makers, ice machines, and trash compactors have no codes and are diagnosed by symptom. Some faults clear with a reset; sensor and control faults need a technician.
